A. G. Russell™ Knives recently released the A. G. Russell™ Granddad's Lockback. When asked where he got his inspiration for this knife, A. G. said that one of America's oldest knife companies told him that they had a quantity of handles of an old, old model with no blades. So he designed a blade that would take advantage of the full length of the handle.
This blade fills the handle when the knife is closed. It would have appealed to our grandfathers or great-grandfathers. What A. G. has created is a 19th Century Folding Hunter, which was probably first made as a lockback in the 1920s. It measures 5-3/8" closed with brown jigged bone scales and a stainless Acorn shield. The 4-1/4" blade of 154CM at 59-61 Rc. harks back to ancient bowie knives, shrunk to a large folding hunter. This very handsome knife has brass liners and nickel silver bolsters and caps. It weighs 4.4 oz. A. G. is proud to say that it is made in the U. S. A. If your granddaddy is still hunting or even dreaming of it, this would be a great gift that would take him back in time. The retail price for this knife is $89.95.
