Dear Customers and Friends,

As I write this letter (June 23, 2009) the ability of American citizens to buy, sell or own folding knives is being threatened by a proposed ruling by U. S. Customs. You can read the proposed ruling and keep up with current happenings at: http://www.akti.org/legislation/uscustoms.html. There are also model letters and talking points to help you compose your own letter of objection and which will provide information you can use when you talk with your legislators.

The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) represents all aspects of the knife world including individual knife owners, retailers, importers and U. S. manufacturers. While you may be getting a lot of information from other sources, this is the group that is leading the struggle. Be sure to lend your support. More information about how you can do that is available at http://www.akti.org/member.html . Log in, learn about what is happening and then contribute at the highest level you can afford. We expect this to be a lengthy struggle and will need support with both financial contributions and calls and letters to your legislators, the Secretary of Homeland Security and to U. S. Customs. AKTI will keep us all informed as to what is needed at all times.
