One Hefty Folder
One of the antique knife designs I have admired for many years has been the English Rope Knife. This design has always taken two main shapes, the Even End Elephant's Toenail and the Sunfish, a swell center design. In 2010, to commemorate the 187th Anniversary of the Texas Rangers, I chose the Platt's swell center Sunfish with a few minor modifications. As we have done with the other Texas Ranger® knives, we are now offering this very popular knife as a standard A. G. Russell model.
The primary difference in this knife compared to other English Rope Knives is in the size of the knife. This is a large knife. The 3-5/16" spear blade of 8Cr13MoV high carbon stainless at 57-59 Rc. measures a full 0.233" thick. The handle measures 4-5/8" in length and 1-1/2" wide at its widest point. And it weighs a manly 9.8 oz. The bolsters, caps, and liners are stainless. Made in China.
