I was really proud of the huge hawkbill knife we introduced last year. The thrill I felt about that knife is being duplicated with the delivery of every new A. G. Russell designed folder. This 2008 Texas Ranger™ celebrates the 185 years since the first Rangers were put in the field to protect the people of Texas and their property.

This remarkable knife is a Gun Stock Lockback and, if that were not remarkable enough, it is also a one hand opening knife with a large nail mark perfectly placed for the thumb of either hand to sweep open the large 3/16" thick blade that seems to grow out of the handle when fully open and ready for use. The 3-1/2" flat ground blade is 9Cr18MoV stainless at 57-58 Rc. with a cut swedge on both sides. The liners, bolster and caps are polished stainless steel. The handles are Ebony Rucarta™, the most durable material we have for the handles of knives intended for heavy field use.

This is the first in our current series of Texas Ranger™ knives, we produced two between 2001 and 2002 with jigged bone scales. We will introduce only one each year. This 2008 knife (yes, we are a bit late) will be limited to 1,000 un-serial numbered knives. Each knife will have the Texas Ranger Shield dated 1823-2008. This is the third knife we have made in China and we continue to be impressed with the quality of materials and workmanship. The fit and finish of this knife is better than knives selling for $200-$300. If you do not agree that this knife is worth at least twice what it costs you, I ask you to please return it to me.
