A.G. Russell Knives

A.G. Russell™ Knives is honored with the opportunity to reproduce images from John Banovich’s paintings on knives produced in the A.G. Russell shop. The first image we have chosen is The Defensive Line, a narrow horizontal painting of five Cape Buffalo that is a natural for a large knife blade. John’s painting portrays the power and anticipation he encountered in 1994 when on Safari, he came across a pride of lions and a herd of buffalo engaged in a test of wills. Positioned 30 yards apart, they sized each other up for the ultimate confrontation.

To create a surface for adequate reproduction of this painting, we selected a classic English Bowie, inspired by the early work of Bowie Knife great, D. E Henry. The 10" Bowie style blade is 7/32" 154CM high carbon stainless cutlery steel made in the U.S.A. by Crucible, hardened to 59-61 Rc. The coffin styled handle has scales of hand selected and hand shaped giraffe bone that has been stabilized to enhance its durability, but otherwise left in its natural state. The Defensive Line is beautifully reproduced on the blade with a crisp deep etch that will last a lifetime. The Banovich signature is reproduced in the lower right corner of the image and the spine of each knife is engraved with the serial number (001/100 to 100/100) and "A.G. Russell -- 2009". Measures 15-3/16" tip to butt and weighs 17.4 oz.

Ships in a padded zippered travel/shipping case and includes a hinged glass top American walnut case that can be displayed on the wall of your office, stood up on a shelf or laid flat on your desk or table. The Serial Number Certificate includes the serial number of the knife and is individually signed by both John Banovich and A.G. Russell. Serial numbers will be assigned as orders are received, smallest numbers first. The outside dimensions of the display case are 13" x 18" by approximately 2" deep. Each step of the construction of this knife is completely under the control of our shop in Rogers, Arkansas. Knife and case made in the U.S.A.
