The Boker® Leo Damascus III is the third generation of high performance Damascus forged from the barrel of the German battle tank Leopard I. For the first time, Markus Balbach, the forger, has welded two other steels with the battle tank steel to create a blade with a large pyramid pattern. This is a proprietary process and he will not share with us information about the steels he uses. He does tell us that the steel is extremely hard to heat treat and that it is welded of over 300 layers to create these handmade blades. The result is a hardness of 65-67 Rc. with superior cutting capabilities. The handle is made of CNC machined AlMgSil aluminum and is hard coat anodized, contrasting nicely with the Grenadilla wood insets, the same wood used to make clarinets. Includes a Walker style lock and a clip that can be reversed for tip-up or tip-down carry. Comes gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Blade measures 3-7/8" with an overall length of 8-7/8". Measures 5" closed and weighs 5.3 oz. Made in Germany. Suggested retail is $699.00.
