In March 2008, Benchmade's Shoki™, designed by Seiichi Nakamura, was awarded the IWA International Knife Award in the category of Special Design. This was a milestone for Benchmade because it marked the first collaborative effort between the Benchmade Knife Company and custom knifemaker Seiichi Nakamura. The Shoki introduced a brand new locking mechanism called the NAK-LOK™. That first version had wood handle scales, creating what one might call a Gentleman's Tactical. For their new version, Benchmade has chosen to go back to an all-tactical look, making use of carbon fiber for the scales instead of wood.
The satin finished 2-7/8" hollow ground utility blade is M390 super steel at 60-62 Rc. The liners are bright blue anodized titanium and the handle scales are black carbon fiber. All the hardware is nickel-plated. Measures 3-5/8" closed and weighs 1.8 oz. Includes a leather pouch with clip. Made in the U. S. A. Suggested retail is $225.00.
