The Böker Merlin, made in Böker's factory in Solingen, is an interframe folder with a rosewood inlay. The design is from Wilfried Gorski, custom knifemaker and member of the German Knifemakers' Guild. Gorski is well known in Europe for his new ideas in knife construction, the precision of his work and the elegance of his design.

A two-blade pen-knife was a pocket necessity through most of my life. It is just large enough to accomplish most common tasks, but small enough to carry in a pair of dress pants or a pair of jeans.

Boker's® new folding hunter was designed by Bill Davis. All who know this Missouri knifemaker are aware that he is an avid hunter and designs his knives for practical use. The traditional drop point blade shape has been a successful hunting and outdoor use tool since it was designed and made popular by R. W. Loveless in the 1960s.

Since 1985, Boker has created an annual limited edition Damascus folder. The knives have ranged in style from traditional to gentleman's tactical. For 2011, they chose a design from Mississippi knifemaker Jim Burke that he calls the "Thorn". The "Thorn" exhibits the traits of a tactical folder as well as the elegant, flowing lines you would expect of a gentleman’s knife.

Evidence indicates that beer has been brewed in Germany since around 800 B.C. and by the second century, it was being traded commercially. In 1516, Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria enacted the Reinheitsgebot, or the “Purity Law,” which regulated the brewing of beer. The town of Solingen, known as the cutlery center of Germany, also enacted strict laws for the manufacture of knives and shears. While Boker is not quite as “aged” as the brewing industry, the same quality standards apply.

Todd Begg, a well-known knifemaker from Washington, is one of the latest makers whose knife designs are being produced by Boker®. The traditional Japanese Kiridashi knife was originally made for carving or cutting small branches, and you will find them in most woodcarver's sets. Todd Begg's modern interpretation of this ancient concept is useful in tactical situations as well.

About 20 years ago Col. Applegate premiered his Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife. The first version was handmade by T. J. Yancy in Colorado. This knife has had a long life. When T. J. stopped making them, Al Mar made them in Japan. While Blackjack had their factory operating in Illinois, they made the knife, and now they are being made by Böker® in Solingen, Germany.
