The Vanguard is Buck's answer to the Loveless Drop Point Hunter. Since it was introduced by Bob Loveless in the 1960s, the drop point has been the accepted standard for hunting blade shapes. Nearly 30 years later, Buck introduced the Vanguard, one of the many production versions of the drop point hunter. Buck has two standard versions, one with a layered stabalized wood handle and the other with a rubberized handle. Over the years, they have also produced limited quantities with other handle materials. Including one we arranged in early 2006 for members of the Knife Collector's Club and A. G. Russell™ customers. At the end of 2006, they created a second version for us. Both had Impala Jigged Horn, the first with Desert Ironwood and the second with Box Elder.
We have just created a third version using Impala Jigged Horn and nickel silver spacers, hilt and butt cap like the first two, but this time with a spacer of Ram's Horn behind the hilt. The 4-1/8" drop point blade is the same 420HC stainless at 57-59 Rc. The blade finish is a step up from the standard finish and the handle, hilt and butt cap are mirror polished. Measures 8-1/2" from tip to butt and weighs 6.6 oz. Includes a leather sheath.
The quantity is limited so you will want to place your order right a way.
