A.G. Russell Knives

The Chuck Buck/A. G. Russell Signature knife will be limited to a total of 500 pieces of signed and serial numbered knives – 250 with Black Lip Pearl and 250 with India Stag.

Since Buck® is in the business of making knives and I have been known to design a knife or two, we decided that I would design the knife and Buck would produce it in their factory in Idaho.

Over the years, Buck® has created many limited edition knives based on the popular model 110 Folding Hunter. David Yellowhorse has crafted the handles of the latest, Rising Wisdom, in his traditional style using black jet with a nickel silver inlay of an Indian warrior against a rising moon, and stripes of turquoise, orange spiny oyster, black jet and nickel silver.

The Vanguard is Buck's answer to the Loveless Drop Point Hunter. Since it was introduced by Bob Loveless in the 1960s, the drop point has been the accepted standard for hunting blade shapes. Nearly 30 years later, Buck introduced the Vanguard, one of the many production versions of the drop point hunter. Buck has two standard versions, one with a layered stabalized wood handle and the other with a rubberized handle.

Tom Mayo began making knives in late 1981, but his love of knives started when he was a young boy, probably in the way most young men develop a love of knives: by knives being passed down or given as gifts by an older generation.

Each year the Buck® Custom Shop produces several limited edition knives based on their standard models. Only a few have been based on the Model 119. This year they have created a version of the 119 with a 420HC stainless blade ground to resemble chipped flint with a handle of genuine buffalo horn inlaid with a contrasting nickel silver cutout of a white-tail buck.

Buck® has chosen their Duke folder as the canvas to present the highest hand in poker - the Royal Flush. The five cards are carved into a smooth buffalo horn handle then the lines are gold-filled. A spade is cut into the nickel silver bolster then gold plated.

The Buck® 110 has been used many times as a platform for unusual and unique materials and processes. It may be one of the most collected knives in the country.

For 2008, Buck® created a series of three knives inspired by the artistry of handcrafted guitars. The handles are crafted from actual guitar fret material and abalone dots set in rich cocobolo wood scales. The first in this series is the Buck® Gen-5™, a fixed blade knife introduced in 2007.

Each year Buck® creates a small group of customized knives using standard Buck® models. In 2008, among other models, they created what they refer to as the Buck Guitar series. This series utilizes real guitar fret material and mother-of-pearl or abalone dots set in cocobolo or Indian rosewood handle scales.
