All knives except the Cotton Knife from Schatt & Morgan's File & Wire Tested Series 4 have been retired. The Saddle Horn Lockback is the first in Series 5. The handle scales are Morning Ash Worm Groove Bone, which will be used in all models in this series. The Saddlehorn Lockback knife pattern has been resurrected from Schatt and Morgan dies dated 1917.

The Cotton Knife is the 5th in the series. This pattern is a cousin of the pruning knife and was used by cotton buyers for cutting samples out of bales.

The Signature Bolster Daddy Barlow is the fourth in the Schatt & Morgan File & Wire Tested Series Four with Pennsylvania Mt. Moss Green worm groove bone handle scales. The first was the Mountain Man Trapper, the second the Swing Guard and the third the Slim Coke Bottle. The Mountain Man Trapper and the Swing Guard have been retired.

Before the Rockwell tester, the File & Wire mark was used to indicate that the hardness and toughness of a blade had passed the file and wire test. The test consisted of cutting the edge bevel with a new file to test the hardness and then tapping the blade edge through a piece of wire of a known hardness to test the toughness. If the edge was not blunted by the wire, it passed the test and was marked with "File & Wire Tested".

Since 2000, they have produced a President's Choice knife. This, the 4th, will be limited to only 400 pieces. It is a remarkable knife, a 3-5/8" "Baby Sunfish" with coined bolsters, wonderful Mother-of-Pearl scales and nickel silver liners and bolsters.

Limited to 500 pieces, this lovely pearl handled Whittler has so many special features that collectors are going to be blown away. Magnificent Mother-of-Pearl scales are complimented by threaded and pinched nickel silver bolsters and brass pins.
