The original Edgie, called that because the edge is honed every time it is opened or closed, was originally released in 2006.  Since that time we have sold thousands.  The secret to the Edgie system is a 400 grit diamond-coated spring sharpener built into the folder frame.  It is placed at the precise angle to give the blade a sharpening stroke each time the blade is open or closed.  For 2009, Steve Jernigan has come up the dual edged Edgie lockback.

The Edgie 2 has a 3-1/4" blade of 5Cr15MoV stainless steel at 55-57 Rc.  The "American Eagle Wharncliffe" blade grind tapers at the tip for better penetration and easier cutting of thick materials such as corrugated cardboard.  Just like the original, the frame is super strong thanks to the stainless steel InterFrame build with Zytel scales, and a textured surface and soft grooved TPR inserts give excellent grip under all conditions.  Blue or yellow insert models are available. The long blade slot allows easy one-hand opening with either hand and the lockback release is located at the butt for exceptional lockup safety.  Measures 5-5/16" closed and weighs 4.3 oz.

Not only do you never need to sharpen the Edgie with stones or wheel, but also you should not, because it may alter the Edgie's proper self-sharpening edge angle. It is important during a long cutting work session to periodically open and close the blade to maintain the edge.  Suggested retail $39.99.
