Tom Hitchcock, an industrial engineer from Talent, OR, began the design of the Hole In One with the perimeter frame, which is a single piece of 420J2 stainless steel, formed to fit the hand. The blade shape and size, which can only be called a "Hitchcock blade", was dictated by that handle shape.

The 2-1/2" blade is 420J2 stainless at 52-55 Rc. with a high, flat grind and gently curved Razor-Sharp edge. The blade pivots into the side of the handle instead of the bottom. The locking mechanism locks the knife in both the open and closed position. When using the knife with your hand wrapped around the handle, there is no way it can accidentally close. To close, depress the locking lever and pivot the blade into the handle. To open, simply press down on the lock release lever, and rotate it out to either the right or left side of the handle. Continue rotating until the lock snaps firmly into place in the open position. This is a fast one-hand operation.

Both blade and frame have a durable non-reflective bead-blast finish. Includes a spring-loaded carry carabiner (non-weight-bearing) so you can securely hang the Hole In One on belt loops, D-rings, webbing or lanyards.
