Howard Viele, a Knifemaker's Guild member for over two decades, ranks right at the top of the list of custom knifemakers producing high-tech knives with Walker style locks. At knife shows, Howard usually sells out in the first couple of hours. Unfortunately, he can personally make only 50 or so knives a year. When CRKT saw the handmade version of The Wasp, they knew it was a perfect candidate for a CRKT model. We believe they've made a great choice.

Tom Hitchcock, an industrial engineer from Talent, OR, began the design of the Hole In One with the perimeter frame, which is a single piece of 420J2 stainless steel, formed to fit the hand. He thoughtfully split the frame with swells at the top, bottom and butt to add more comfort without adding weight.

The Fulcrum Flame's design is all curves, no straight lines.  Even the CRKT logo laser cut into the blade is new.  Like CRKT says, it’s curvilinear. The 2-3/4" AUS8 premium stainless steel blade is a drop point, swedged and recurved with a high hollow grind.  Rockwell is 58-59 Rc.

This knife is Ron Lake's first knife designed around the liner-lock which was invented by his friend Michael Walker. Those of you who are familiar with Allen Elishewitz's web site of exquisite custom knives will know that the new production CRKT Pharaoh is very different from Allen's custom Pharaoh. Sorry for any confusion, but this is a unique design that incorporates many of Allen's themes well deserving of the title "king." You will look very hard to find a production knife in this price class that is anything like the Pharaoh, so it does stand a bit larger than life.
