Gerber Legendary Blades® first introduced the Mark II™ in 1966 during the Vietnam War. It became the most sought after knife of the Viet Nam conflict and has been one of the best selling knives of all time. Serrations were first added in 1971 and the black handle was first introduced in 1977. The use of 440C stainless for blade steel began toward the end of 1979 and black blade coating was an option offered shortly after.

Periodically Gerber will offer a special run of the Mark II™ including a special 1250 piece 35th Anniversary production introduced in 2001 and a special production they made for A. G. Russell™ Knives in early 2003. The latest production was introduced at the Blade Show in early June 2008. These are not limited but are marked 08AGN and are serially numbered on the reverse side of the blade. This version features a black oxide coated 6-5/8" 420HC blade and a die cast black aluminum handle. The blade is not wasp waisted but is double serrated. It measures 12-3/4" blade tip to pommel and weighs 7.0 oz. Comes complete with a double strap ballistic nylon sheath with a hard plastic liner. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested retail $150.38.
