Featured in the movie "The Expendables".
Master knifemaker Gil Hibben designed this Bowie for the 2010 movie The Expendables, a hard-hitting action movie about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, who is a long time collector of Gil Hibben Knives. Gil has a history of designing knives that are featured in Stallone films. The first was made for Rambo III. That relationship has continued and Stallone has commissioned Gil to make several knives for use in this new film.
One of those is this very large Bowie. It features a stabilized synthetic ivory handle accented with a gold plated blade catcher, ferrule and curved double guard with star design, characteristic of some of the early Bowie knives. The movie's logo (a crow sitting on a skull) is etched on the handle. The 13-7/8" Bowie blade is mirror polished 3Cr13 stainless at 50-52 Rc. Measures 19-3/4" overall and weighs in at 2 lb. 1.0 oz. Ships with a leather sheath stamped with the Gil Hibben logo and a certificate of authenticity. Made in China. Suggested retail $163.00.
