In the early 1980ís, Ethan Becker, an avid outdoorsman, founded Becker Knife and Tool focusing on the large tactical and survival knives he had always wanted for himself. In the late 1990ís and early 2000ís, Camillus Cutlery produced many of his most popular designs. Because of the Camillus bankruptcy, there was some period of time during which the knives were not produced while Ethan worked to acquire the rights to his designs from the bankruptcy. Since late 2008, those same models, as well as some new ones, have been produced by Ka-Bar and are marked BK&T-Ka-Bar.
