Browning's Black Label™ series represents a planned and focused move into the world of tactical knives. Historically, Browning® has focused on hunting, everyday carry and collectible knives. This move into tacticals was made with a great deal of planning and the introduction of a complete line of black knives.

In 2009, commercial hunting guide and knifemaker Russ Kommer made a limited edition of fifty of his drop point hunter for Browning. The fifty knives were handmade by Russ in his own shop, with premium exhibition grade Desert Ironwood and shipped in a walnut display box.

The button lock began in the switchblade business and only came into general use in regular folding knives when Matt Conable of William Henry Knives figured out how to make one that was reliable. Matt’s button lock has become the standard on William Henry knives and button locks are becoming widely used.

The Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep and the Desert Big Horn Sheep complete Browning’s Full Curl Sheep Series of four knives designed by commercial hunting guide and knifemaker Russ Kommer. The first two in the series were the Dall Sheep and the Stone Sheep.

The Robert E. Lee bowie is the fifth release in a series of six knives honoring American people, events or locations of historical significance. The first four were: The Liberty Tree, the Alamo, the Vietnam War and Crazy Horse. Browning expects to release Dwight Eisenhower in 2009. Browning, together with American Forests, develops each knife when wood becomes available from a tree that witnessed the event.

The Keesler Hunter has a 5-1/2" satin finished drop point blade of high-carbon tool steel at 57-59 Rc. The Birdseye Maple handle scales are pinned to the full tang with four copper pins and are separated from the tang with copper liners.

Jerry Fisk is one of the most highly recognized bladesmiths making knives today. His knives have received so many awards that it would take much of this page to list them all. As a boy, Jerry watched in awe as a neighboring blacksmith created knife blades at his forge. A sixth grade field trip to the old James Black shop in Washington, Arkansas seems to have assured Jerry's path in life.

Rope Cutting Competitions have become a spectator sport and are showing up more and more at knife shows around the country. The only two men to win an American Bladesmith (ABS) World Cutting Championship are James Crowell and Reggie Barker.
