SOG® calls this version of the extremely popular Spec Elite a Mini, but I would call it a Stubby. While this version is smaller (shorter), it definitely is not a miniature. Spencer Fraser has done what I often do, and has taken some of the length out of the middle of both the handle and the blade. He has kept the same shape for the glass-reinforced handle, just shortened it. The shortening of the blade has resulted in an exciting new blade shape.

By using the name "Trident" on this series of knives, SOG hopes to embody the spirit of elite special forces all over the world. The Trident Mini, even though smaller than the original, has features that are common to several of SOG's most popular knives, including SOG's assisted opening mechanism (S.A.T.).
