The Devil's Brigade, officially known as the 1st Special Service Force, was organized in July of 1942. During WWII, this special task force of American and Canadian soldiers completed missions in the Aleutian Islands, Italy and southern France before being disbanded in December 1944.

During World War II, combat knives were made by many American knife manufacturers, but Ka-Bar's reputation was so strong that this style knife became known as a "Ka-Bar" no matter who manufactured it. The newest style is the Big Brother that has been designed for a lifetime of hard work and constant use.

The SOG® Seal Knife 2000, now called the SEAL Team, has over the past several years evolved into an entire line of knives. The Shiva was the first tactical fixed blade to be made by Al Mar® Knives with a laminated, VG-10 stainless steel blade. Laminating the VG-10 between two layers of 400 series stainless steel increases the lateral strength of the blade by upwards of 30% and does so without increasing the weight or bulk.

In the middle of 2004, we issued the first A.G. Russell™ Field Knife, our concept of the maximum knife for troops in the field. It was an immediate success, but left me with the feeling that I could have done better. In this new version, my goal was to make major improvements without violating the basic design.

Ka-Bar, a company famous for its fighting/utility knives has a new knife aimed for self-defense. The BOGA which stands for "Back Off Get Away" is the perfect personal self defense knife system. This knife can be worn as a neck knife concealed underneath a shirt, strapped to an arm or leg, or you can clip it on a pocket or purse.

At the 2010 S.H.O.T. Show, Ka-Bar® introduced a line of knives aimed at extreme users such as hog hunters, adventure trekkers and anyone else looking for that over the top knife. These knives are based on designs by Steve Johnson, Field Editor for Boar Hunter Magazine and part-time knife designer.

Today some of the most popularly collected knives are military, especially those made for WWII. One of the more common is the U.S. Navy Mark 1. It was produced by a number of cutlery companies, including Boker, each in their own style. As the name implies, the U.S. Navy Mark 1 was originally designed for sailors to cut line.

The Mini SERE Operator™ features a 3-7/8" talon style blade of VG-10 stainless at 58-60 Rc. with blasted Linen Micarta scales over a full tang with holes through the handle to reduce the weight.

The Creed is one of the more dramatic blade shapes in the SOG arsenal. Like its big brother, the SEAL Pup has a partially serrated blade that is powder coated in a Tiger Stripe pattern for low-reflection and corrosion resistance. Its lightweight, glass-reinforced Zytel handle features a raised diamond pattern for secure gripping in inclement weather. Includes a Kydex® sheath.

The tanto style blade measures 3-11/16" and is made of AUS-8 stainless steel at 57-59 Rc., with a non-reflective black powder coating. Available in plain or combination edge blade styles. About 20 years ago Col. Applegate premiered his Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife. The first version was handmade by T. J. Yancy in Colorado. This knife has had a long life. When T.
