This Trapper features a double lockback mechanism, brown bone handle, stainless steel bolsters and high carbon stainless steel blades.

These traditional knives take us back to the good ol’ times. Fine polished brass bolsters and yellow synthetic handle scales.

This is the sixth in a series of folders made for A. G. Russell™ Knives by Canal Street Cutlery® using White Buffalo Mica Pearl for the handle scales. The previous five knives include a Muskrat, Doctor’s Knife, Half Moon Pie Trapper, Stockman and Cannitler. Mica Pearl is a resin-based material that was developed to be an alternative to Celluloid.

In addition to a special limited edition knife each month to commemorate their 140th year in the knife business, Böker® is creating some very short runs of traditional folders with a special 140th Anniversary inlay. Many of these knives are making use of existing parts and materials, some of which remain from regular production from years ago. Some of these materials have not been seen on Böker knives in many years.

This is a wonderful example of the BEST of Japanese folding knives! In our quest for the best quality for the money, we sometimes accept knife designs from the companies or individuals who make knives for us. This beautifully made Trapper was designed by the maker for A.G. Russell™.

At the 2009 S.H.O.T. Show, Bear showed us their newest offers in this Series with Abalone handle scales. They have chosen mostly different models of traditional folders, plus a Baby Bowie pattern and added genuine Abalone scales to the carbon Damascus blades.

The Moon Pie Trapper is the third in a series of traditional folders being produced for us by Canal Street Cutlery with India Stag handle scales. Ka-Bar's history goes back to the Tidioute Cutlery Company, which was founded in Pennsylvania in 1898. Out of the failure of that company, the Union Razor Company was formed in 1902. The name was changed again in 1909 to Union Cutlery Company then moved to Olean, New York in 1910. The Ka-Bar® trademark was introduced in the 1920's and around 1942 the company submitted a Ka-Bar branded knife to the U. S. Marine Corps.

Canal Street Cutlery took their Moon Pie Trapper removed the long spey blade and made it a Half Moon Pie Trapper.

Since 1922, Queen Cutlery has strived to remain one of the oldest old and most trustworthy American knife companies. They produce mostly traditional patterns of folding and fixed blade knives under their name as well as Schatt & Morgan.

In recognizing their 110th Anniversary, Ka-Bar® introduced three limited edition reproductions of knife patterns produced during the Union Cutlery years.

Late last year, we saw a series with materials and craftsmanship that was a step above what we had been seeing from Bear and Sons Cutlery. That series featured genuine India Stag handle scales, nickel silver bolsters and caps, brass liners and carbon Ladder Pattern Damascus blades. Bear has followed that series with another consisting of the same models, but with Mother-of-Pearl handle scales and carbon Damascus blades.

Yes, it is an unusual name for a knife. When we asked Wally Gardiner, President of Canal Street Cutlery where the name came from, he told us "because the extra large cap on the knife looks like a half moon." It is a beautiful knife, put together with the attention to detail and fine finish you have become accustomed to from Canal Street Cutlery.

W. R. Case® & Sons has created a series of knives commemorating five recent major American military conflicts. The first of the five available were those commemorating World War II and the Vietnam Conflict.
