A.G. Russell Knives

The original folding Hissatsu was designed at the request of customers who wanted a folder that could be concealed in a pocket but with defensive power similar to the fixed blade Hissatsu. The Heiho was designed for those that prefer a folder for defense but don't want to carry a large knife.

I did not design this knife, but the lock seems to have been inspired by my 1991 Japanese City Knife, which had a brass button in the side of the handle that unlocked the interior "liner lock". This new knife has the button as a part of the handle.

In March 2008, Benchmade's Shoki™, designed by Seiichi Nakamura, was awarded the IWA International Knife Award in the category of Special Design. This was a milestone for Benchmade because it marked the first collaborative effort between the Benchmade Knife Company and custom knifemaker Seiichi Nakamura.

If the three previous William Henry EDC knives are still a little too pricey for your wallet, perhaps the E6 with Desert Ironwood, at $45 less than the E10, will help you put a William Henry in your pocket. These A.G. Russell™ exclusives from William Henry Knives are brothers to the B10's offered in the June 15th brochure. Built on the same Lancet frame, these slim folders each have a 2-5/8" drop point blade of Damascus steel instead of the laminated ZDP-189.

While beautiful, don't let that fool you. These knives are built to use and will carry well in a suit pocket or clipped to the top of the pocket of your jeans. Whether purchasing to collect and display or to use, these knives won't disappoint.

The basic function of the button lock began with switchblades many years ago. Except for the William Henry Button Lock designed by Matt Conable, this type of lock never seemed to amount to anything. The William Henry Button Lock works wonderfully well, as you would expect from Matt's designs.

The button lock began in the switchblade business and only came into general use in regular folding knives when Matt Conable of William Henry Knives figured out how to make one that was reliable. Matt’s button lock has become the standard on William Henry knives and button locks are becoming widely used.

Titanium Blues from Boker Plus® is a good example of the current fascination with button lock knives. These knives are made in China by a Japanese company that I have done business with for many years, in fact they are presently working on a Gent’s Button Lock for me.

This everyday carry concept, with prices less that half of what you pay for standard B models, allows more of us to carry a William Henry knife.

Built slim for comfortable fit in the hand and in the pocket, the Ventana has a couple of features that are new or unusual in a William Henry knife. When we asked Matt Conable why they decided to add this very different style knife to the William Henry line, this is the response we received. Seiichi Nakamura spent his life as an engineer and in retirement designs and produces small Japanese style folders and gentleman's folders. As far as I can determine, this is the first instance in which one of his designs has been manufactured by an American company. Just last year we offered a Nakamura folder from Kershaw, but that knife was produced by a small factory in Japan.

In 2007, Allen Elishewitz , the acclaimed Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker designed the CRKT® production version of his Anubis (the jackal-headed god of the underworld, according to ancient Egyptian mythology). For 2008, they have added the black-on-black "K" models with titanium nitride blade coating, plus black liners, bolsters, fasteners and removable clip.
