The Eagle, Al Mar's® largest classic folder, was reintroduced in 2007 and is the canvas for this very special collectible. The handle scales are what make this knife so rare. Made of genuine wild elk antler, but not just any elk antler.

There have been several models, from the first with a 4-1/4" blade to a mini with a 3" blade. In 2011, Al Mar is introducing the SERE 2000 with a textured G-10 handle in either olive drab or digital camo.

The Ultralight series has been the most popular of all Al Mar designs with A. G. Russell™ customers. When Gary Fadden, the current owner of Al Mar Knives, acquired the company, this series was one of the first he produced. Methodically, one by one, he re-introduced the four models: the Eagle, the Falcon, the Hawk and the Osprey. The standard models are produced with linerless, black, phenolic resin (Micarta) handles, a great way to make a strong, lightweight-folding knife, and with AUS-8 blade steel.

The Shiva was the first tactical fixed blade to be made by Al Mar® Knives with a laminated, VG-10 stainless steel blade. Laminating the VG-10 between two layers of 400 series stainless steel increases the lateral strength of the blade by upwards of 30% and does so without increasing the weight or bulk.

The first Al-Mar® knife, introduced to the public in 1985, was a 6" folder with a 4-1/2" blade weighing 12 oz. While some of the early knives made it into SERE (Survival-Evasion-Resistance-Escape), a program that provides military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and private military contractors with training in evading capture, survival skills and the military code of conduct, the vast majority were snapped up by those of us who love knives.

The Mini SERE Operator™ features a 3-7/8" talon style blade of VG-10 stainless at 58-60 Rc. with blasted Linen Micarta scales over a full tang with holes through the handle to reduce the weight.

The Nomad is a slightly smaller tactical folder designed by Kirk Rexroat. It features textured black G-10 scales, a flat ground 3" blade of VG-10 stainless steel at 59-61 Rc. with dual thumbstuds. Stainless steel liners and a heavy-duty liner lock.

The SERE, (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) was designed by Al Mar and Col. Nick Rowe in the early 1980s for the the U.S. Army's SERE school. The knives now being made are stronger and use better steel than was then available for folders. This current model is a more convenient size.

This modern version has a 3-5/8" blade of VG-10 at 59-60 Rc. and G-10 scales over stainless liners. Weighing only 6 oz. including the reversible clip, it weighs only half what the original did.
