The original folding Hissatsu was designed at the request of customers who wanted a folder that could be concealed in a pocket but with defensive power similar to the fixed blade Hissatsu. The Heiho was designed for those that prefer a folder for defense but don't want to carry a large knife.

The Crawford clip point blade is premium 8Cr13MoV at 58-59 Rc., with a scalloped top edge and a ramped Crawford-style thumb stud on each side of the blade for easy ambidextrous opening.

One of Ron’s latest breakthrough is his patented* Lock Back Safety (L.B.S.™) which allows the user to slide the small L.B.S. button forward to lock the blade both in the open and closed positions. When locked open, it is virtually impossible to accidentally release the blade even during vigorous cutting tasks.

The innovation is Glenn's use of a single sheet of stamped and folded stainless steel to serve as the folder frame, back spacer, spring and lock, resulting in a solid lockback folder. How does Gerry McGinnis keep his grades up as a student at North Carolina State University and still keep coming up with new and interesting knife designs for Columbia River Knife & Tool® (CRKT®)? We don’t know, but here another design that CRKT just couldn’t resist putting into production.

Tom Hitchcock, an industrial engineer from Talent, OR, began the design of the Hole In One with the perimeter frame, which is a single piece of 420J2 stainless steel, formed to fit the hand. The blade shape and size, which can only be called a "Hitchcock blade", was dictated by that handle shape.

Columbia River Knife & Tool's® original K.I.S.S.® has been one of the most popular knives ever sold in our catalog. For 2007, CRKT has taken that K.I.S.S.® to a new level. This knife is Ron Lake's first knife designed around the liner-lock which was invented by his friend Michael Walker. This knife uses Ron's Interframe patent, putting inlays into the solid metal of each side of the knife. In 2007, Allen Elishewitz , the acclaimed Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker designed the CRKT® production version of his Anubis (the jackal-headed god of the underworld, according to ancient Egyptian mythology).
