The Leo IV is the first fixed blade knife made using Damascus blade steel forged from the barrel of the famous German battletank, Leopard. Böker's® Damascus forger combines three different steels (carbon tool steels and ball-bearing steel) with the Leopard's gun barrel steel to create a completely unique blade material. In a very complex and technically demanding forging process, he creates a Damascus steel with 600 layers. The four different steels give it an extraordinarily eye-catching appearance in a pattern inspired by the leopard?s coat pattern.
In cooperation with the German knifemaker Teyke, each knife is individually handcrafted in Böker's manufacturing facility in Solingen, Germany. The handle scales are made of carefully selected Burl Rosewood, fitted by hand to each and every blade. The drop point blade and handle inlays are created from this special Leo Damascus. The blade is heat treated to a final hardness of 65-67 Rc. making it useful as well as beautiful. A Sterling Sliver guard and handle pins add to the beauty and uniqueness of this special knife. Measures 8-3/16" overall and weighs 6.4 oz. Limited to 250 knives worldwide, it comes in a handsome wood presentation box with a fine saddle leather sheath. Knife is made in Germany. Sheath is made in England. Suggested retail is $1,995.00.
