This particular steel was forged from the barrel of the German battle tank Leopard I, thus the name Leo Damascus. A modern high alloy (chromium-manganese and vanadium) tool steel was added and you have a 3-3/8" Damascus blade at a remarkable 63-65 Rc. This high performance steel was made available to Boker through a noted European Damascus forger, Markus Balbach. This gun barrel steel is not available on the market, there is no material identifying number even assigned to it because it is only used by the military.
The unusual pattern on the blade surface is called 'small pyramid'. As with all true Damascus, every blade is different. The 4-3/4" handle is 6061 TL6, high strength aircraft alloy, hard anodized, with Desert Ironwood inlays. Serial numbered, sorry no choice of serial number. Limited to the number that can be produced from the portion of the barrel available. Pocket clip can be positioned for tip up or tip down carry. Gift box and certificate. Weighs 4.2 oz. Suggested retail $595.00.
