Boker Smoked Oak Folding Hunter

This traditional style lockback folder is a new version of a typical Boker. The clip style blade is new and the handle scales are crafted from smoked oak, a material I have never seen used for knife handles. Ordinary oak wood is treated in a process using ammonia fumes that takes several weeks to complete. The dark grey/brown appearance results from the tannic acid being affected by the alkaline fumes. This is a process that takes place naturally in bogs, the difference is with ammonia fumes the process takes weeks instead of hundreds of years. The blade is 440C stainless at 57-59 Rc, with a very nice satin finish. The liners are brass and the bolsters are nickel silver. Measures 4-1/8" closed and weighs 4.6 oz. Made in Germany.
