Custom knives are often set apart by the exotic materials used. It is no surprise that custom knifemaker Ron Lake was persistent in his desire that Columbia River Knife & Tool® use those same materials in the Sentinel.
The high hollow-ground 3-1/2" modified drop point blade is 8Cr14MoV high-chromium stainless steel at 58-59 Rc., which specs out slightly better than everyone's favorite AUS-8 premium blade steel. The brushed finish is easy to clean and has that traditional custom look. The Lake-designed thumb disk allows easy one-hand opening. The Sentinel's InterFrame build uses dual stainless steel liners, one locking, finished in black oxide. The handle scales are CNC-machined 6061 aluminum. To aid grip, the handle features four naturally spaced finger choils. In addition, at mid-handle on both sides are three oval reliefs. These are functional details backed by anodized aluminum accent panels. Available with three different handle onlay materials; Stag with burgundy panels, black Micarta with dark green, or African Thuya Root with bronze panels, all precisely CNC-machined.
Integrated into the design is the patented LAWKS® safety, which effectively converts your folder into a fixed blade - very reassuring when you are using it for difficult and tiring tasks. To keep the lines of the Sentinel uncluttered on both sides, CRKT has put the pocket clip on the leather sheath instead of on the knife.
