Bob has been setting aside the choicest of handle material for all of the 30 years I have known him. When Bob took a look at just what he had in stick stag, he found that he had something over 100 pieces in his stash. With stag now almost impossible to get, the result was the Dozier Classic. Now that the stag is no longer available, Bob has also fallen into some high quality African Blackwood, and is making the same knife with African Blackwood handle. African Blackwood, also known as Mozambique Ebony (in truth, a rosewood from Southern Africa), is the World's choice for making the best clarinets as well as great knife handles. This particular wood came from an English maker of musical instruments.

There hasn't been a Dozier narrow tang knife produced in years. When he was making knives that looked like this, he was using 440C and hand rubbing the blades. Now he works in D2 at 60+ Rc and leaves the blades with a satin finish. The knives are furnished with a pouch sheath of the period, made of quality American leather.
