Peter Wimpff is a noted German knifemaker who has come up with a very nice tactical folder with a full sized Wharncliffe blade. It is being produced by H. P. Klotzli in Switzerland. This version, with the black Teflon® coated blade and black Carbon Fiber handles, is available in the U. S. only from A. G. Russell. If you like what you see, you must buy it here.
When you look at a Klotzli knife keep in mind that it is handcrafted to exacting standards in H. P. Klotzli's small shop in Burgdorf, Switzerland. When you hold a Klotzli knife in your hands you can't help but notice that it is unusual. First, Klotzli selects designs from some of today's top knife designers - Michael Walker, Brian Tighe and Christian Wimpff for example, and he chooses only the highest quality materials. Then comes the part that is lacking in so many knives today: the craftsmanship.
This unusual gentleman's knife was designed by Christian Wimpff and began to be produced in the Klötzli shop in Switzerland in 2004. Each year H. P. selects a different unusual inlay material. For 2007, H. P.'s choice of inlay material is a beautiful deep red-orange apple coral.
H. P. Klötzli has created a very limited series of Christian Wimpff's striking Gentleman's Folder with scrimshawed images of the African Big Five on Wooly Mammoth Ivory scales exclusively for A. G. Russell™ and Russell's For Men™. The Elephant is the last knife in the series. The signature of the scrimshaw artist, Atilla from Hungary, "1 of 25", and the year is cut into the front scale. The reverse scale is plain Ivory.
Earlier this year we introduced the Klötzli African Big Five series with a scrimed Leopard on this unique little gentleman's folder. The knife was designed by Christian Wimpff of Germany and made by H. P. Klötzli to the exacting standards we find in all Klötzli knives. The Lion is the fourth in that series and will be followed by the Elephant before the end of the year.
The team of H. P. Klotzli (Swiss knifemaker - entrepreneur) and Christian Wimpff (German knifemaker - designer) has produced a number of very nice designs. This is the newest and one of the very nicest.
Brian Tighe, pronounced "Tie", is a Canadian tool and die maker who has become a huge success as a maker of high-end folding knives and as a designer folders for the newer production houses. In only a very few years, he has leapt to the forefront of those recognized as leaders of the remarkable CNC Custom Knife Movement. Brian has the advantage of being able to use the equipment himself. He is not just a fine designer but a hands-on craftsman as well.

These knives are a large step above other factory made knives.

This elegant folder is designed by Michael Walker himself and features a 3-5/8" drop point blade of ATS-34 at 57-59 Rc. and handles of machined and anodized Titanium with a Titanium liner.
This new Klötzli knife is based on a tried and true Michael Walker design. As you will find with all Klötzli made knives, the Sarra works so smoothly you will hardly feel it opening. The handles are machined of solid titanium with satin finish and hole surfaces anodized in a bright blue.
It is a number of years since Michael Walker's high tech Liner-Lock® knives passed from a few hundred dollars each to thousands of dollars. Throughout these years there have been many knifemakers, specialty knife people and huge factories copying features from his knives, most of them without even the courtesy of mentioning his name.
Designed by Michael Walker, the inventor of the "liner-style lock" and a remarkable maker of handmade knives, it is one of the slimmest and most smooth functioning of its class.
