Mcusta®

Every year, while at shows, we are offered several knives from the finest makers in Seki City, Japan. We only choose the best of them to offer to you. With the best of steels, these Mcusta knives have stood out from the crowd.

Mcusta® Tancho in Cocobolo

At the 2007 S.H.O.T. Show, Mcusta® introduced to the American market a Limited Edition series designed from the traditional Japanese Art images of "Ka-Cho-Fu-Getsu" (Flower-Bird-Wind-Moon). Over the past two years, they have built a reputation for what they call Precision Machine Custom Knives. These are very high quality folders based on traditional Japanese craftsmanship, but taking full advantage of modern manufacturing technology.

Mcusta® Gingko

At the 2007 S.H.O.T. Show, we arranged with Mcusta® to receive a series of Limited Edition versions of this beautiful folder created with precision inlay work in natural wood handles. Some are created through collaboration with Japanese traditional Artists/Craftsmen. Each version will be limited to 50 pieces in the A. G. Russell exclusive leather case and will be stamped with the red Mcusta insignia (Rakuin).

Mcusta Folder with Burl Wood and Damascus

Just a little over a year ago, we offered this knife with a VG-10 blade and Chinese Quince Burl. The knife has been so popular that we have made arrangements to offer two variations.

Mcusta® Butterflies

This folder is our third selection in Mcusta's series of Limited Edition knives based on traditional Japanese Art images. The butterfly is a popular symbol in the Japanese culture. It is often used to represent metamorphosis or transformation and often represents spring. For centuries Japanese family crests have contained designs based on the butterfly.

Mcusta Bamboo Shaped Handle of Cocobolo

The huge popularity of the Mcusta Damascus Folder with a Bamboo shaped handle (MCU-0033D) and blade of the same damascus has inspired the Japanese makers to introduce the same knife with the handles shaped from premium cocobolo rather than the damascus material. This creates a dynamic contrast with the blade which is the same great VG-10 core at 58-60 Rc. laminated between two pieces of 33 layer stainless damascus.

The Mcusta Folder

Each year we are offered a number of handsome Walker-lock knives by makers from Seki City, Japan. We chose the best of them to offer you. This particular knife is being sold in Japan so we are not required to order huge numbers or pay for expensive tooling. Therefore, we can hold the price down.
