In 2002, RAT (Randall's Adventure and Training) a professional survival training, expedition guiding, and outdoor gear research team entered into an exclusive collaboration with Ontario Knife Co. to supply a proven set of outdoor knife designs. In 2005, they released a pair of fixed blade camp knives with D2 blades and Ram's Horn handle scales, in 2006 it was a Cattleman's folder, again with the D2 and Ram's Horn. Each knife has been limited to 500 serial numbered knives. This year they have chosen the Railsplitter pattern. It also will be limited to 500 serial numbered knives (sorry no choice of serial number).
The Railsplitter is a traditional slipjoint with 2-1/8" clip point, 1-3/4" coping, and 1-3/4" spey blades, all of D2 tool steel at 58-60 Rc. The Ram's Horn scales are accented with angled and dimpled nickel silver bolsters and brass liners and RAT shield. Each knife has an engraved serial number on the main blade and the coping blade is marked 1 of 500. Measures 3-11/16" closed and weighs 3.6 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested retail is $174.60.
