Spyderco

Spyderco is one of the top "Specialty Knife Companies"; specializing in the production of knives of somewhat limited interest, instead of the making of knives for the mass market.

Spyderco® Kopa White Pearl with Abalone Stripes

In 2005, Spyderco® launched their Kopa series which has been made up of approximately three knives per year with exceptionally unique handle variations. To date, inlays have been Cocobolo, Black Micarta, Evrina, Apple Coral, Tiger Coral, Gold Lip Pearl, Turquoise and Black Quince. This newest has a multi piece inlay of white Mother-of-Pearl with contrasting and colorful abalone stripes. Very striking.

Spyderco® Tenacious

The Tenacious is the first main line Spyderco® to be made in China. The quality is similar to Japanese or American produced Spyderco® knives and the price is much lower. The handle is black G-10 laminate, milled with prolonged fatigue-free cutting in mind.

Spyderco Ocelot

In reality, knives made specifically for hunting get used for cutting much more than just what you bag. It holds equally true that generic outdoor knives often find their way into the hands of the hunter field-dressing their success. The Ocelot seamlessly covers both bases crossing from sport to field and back.

Spyderco Captain

The unusual look and style of this knife will draw your attention again and again. The designer, Jason Breeden, says "My designs are born from need I've experienced. I live in the Appalachian Mountains and am regularly outdoors or in water. A recurve blade has cutting advantages in water but I also wanted a strong tip for outdoor applications." Spyderco included a Round Hole resulting in the Spyderco/Jason Breeden Captain.

Spyderco P'Kal

"Pikal" is a word that comes from the Visayan dialect in the Phillipines and means "to rip". It is a martial arts genre accomplished by holding the knife in reverse grip with the sharpened edge facing inward toward the user. The P'Kal knife is a collaboration with Shivworks designed with this in mind.

Spyderco Byrd Robin

Byrd knives are an entry-level series of knives designed, produced and imported by Spyderco. Just right for the budget conscious, these knives are hardworking and tough, with many design options. Backed by the Spyderco reputation, and made with quality materials, you can't go wrong with these knives.

Spyderco Byrd Finch

The Byrd Finch is very similar in size to the popular Ladybug, the Finch is designed to yield the maximum in cutting performance in the smallest possible package. The size makes it the perfect keychain knife, but it is a serious working tool.

Spyderco Delica

Based on the background green found in the U.S. Army's Digital Cammo, the military foliage green Delica is designed for both military and civilians. The color is a shade-shifting mix of gray and green that effectively disappears into its surroundings.

Spyderco Endura4

Based on the background green found in the U.S. Army's Digital Cammo, the military foliage green Endura4 is designed for both military and civilians. The color is a shade-shifting mix of gray and green that effectively disappears into its surroundings. Spyderco offers this new handle color option on the revamped Endura4 with screw construction making cleaning and adjusting easier.

Spyderco Starling plain edge

From the manufacturer:

The byrd line's smallest lightweight folder is the Starling. It is engineered to yield maximum cutting performance with a blade under two-inches. A ball chain threaded through the lanyard hole (included) lets you use the Starling as a keychain or attach it to a purse, pocket or zipper pull. Designing a small knife that feels secure in an adult-sized hand can be challenging.

Spyderco® Kopa with Honey Jigged Bone

In 2005, Spyderco® launched their Kopa series which has been made up of approximately three knives per year with exceptionally unique handle variations. To date, inlays have been Cocobolo, Black Micarta®, Evrina, Apple Coral, Tiger Coral, Gold Lip Pearl, Turquoise, Black Quince and White Pearl with Abalone. This newest features beautiful Honey Jigged Bone.

Spyderco Etched Stainless Spin Clipit

This may be Spyderco's smallest folder, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with style and usability. It is a workhorse of a knife featuring an all stainless steel handle with an etched design to improve grip, a Spyderco round hole for ambidextrous opening, and a right hand tip-down clip. This knife can do just about anything you ask of it, from close in detail work, opening mail or just cleaning fingernails.

Spyderco Spin

Spyderco® calls the SPIN a runt. Like many so called runts this one is a pretty tough cookie! Designed by Eric Glesser, who is now an important part of the Spyderco engineering and design team, to be the smallest possible folder with the largest possible cutting edge. It is obvious that Eric has learned much from his father (Sal Glesser, founder of Spyderco), but it is equally obvious that he brings his own interpretation to knife design.

Spyderco Etched Stainless Dragonfly and Cricket

What the folders lack in size, they make up with their design and usefulness. Both the Dragonfly and the Cricket feature an all stainless steel handle with an etched design to improve grip, a David Boye Dent, a Spyderco round hole for ambidextrous opening, and a right hand tip-up clip.

Spyderco Adventura

The concept of the Adventura folder came from Romanian Technical Manager Alexandru Diaconescu. In keeping with his methodological background, the folder is techie, futuristic and fastidiously engineered to combine function with a cool factor. The PlainEdge VG-10 blade is hollow-ground with an unsharpened swedge-grind. Oblong slots cut through the blade and handle diminish weight and allow a glimpse of the knife's internal components and locking mechanism.

Spyderco Kiwi Mother-of-Pearl & Abalone

In 2002, Spyderco® created an exciting little knife that blends the traditional Spyderco® with the traditional lockback folder. The bolsters and caps, the liners and the mid-lock are traditional folder. The blade shape, the handle shape and the hole in the blade are traditional Spyderco®.

Spyderco Kopa with Gold Lip Pearl

This is the second Spyderco® Kopa to be produced in a limited edition with semi-precious handle inlays. The first had inlays of striking Apple Coral. This one has beautiful Gold Lip Pearl and the next will have Turquoise.

Spyderco Lava

You may recognize the name of the designer, or the short stubby blade in Spyderco's new Lava. Chad Los Banos is beginning to be recognized as a designer of small unique knives. Remember the Böker® Sub Com. I called it Böker's sturdy little knife.

Spyderco Poliwog

Spyderco tells us that the Poliwog CLIPIT's open-end Ball Bearing Lock is one of the strongest of all of their locking mechanisms. This is from a company who is known for their attention to the strength and functionality of their knives. Pulling back on the ball unlocks the blade from either side.

Spyderco Volpe

As expected from Spyderco, the Volpe, (fox in Italian) has a Round Hole and calculated ergonomics. These contemporary Spyderco features are striking when set alongside a more traditional European stainless handle with blonde olivewood inlays.

Spyderco Delica with Plain Blade

Spyderco UK PenKnife

The knife may be man's oldest tool but today it is governed by different carry restrictions in nearly every country in the world. This is particularly true regarding pocketknives in the United Kingdom where legal guidelines govern the size and function of all pocketknives carried in public. One of these parameters is that folding knives not have blades that lock open.

Spyderco "S"

Very similar in style to the very popular Spyderco "Q" from the late 90's, the "S" blade is made using MIM technology, the latest in metal injection molded blade construction. The blade features a web cutout radiating from the patented round hole for one-hand opening.

Spyderco Ladybug 3

Spyderco's® Ladybug 3 is a new version of a model that has been around nearly as long as the company itself. The size makes it a perfect keychain knife, but unlike most, it is a serious working tool.

Spyderco Caly3 - G10 and VG-10

The Caly3 was exclusive to Spyderco's UK distributor for the first year. In that time it built a strong demand in this country.

Spyderco Atlantic Salt

The knife and diving world has searched for years for a steel with high-performance cutting abilities that cannot rust. A Japanese steel foundry recently introduced H1, a steel that fits those specifications. H1 is a PH steel, meaning it is a precipitation-processed alloy, that's rolled hard without heat-treating and has .1% nitrogen which acts like carbon, but does not react to chlorine to make rust. Surprisingly, it holds a sharpened cutting edge comparable to the premium knife steels being used in the industry today.

Spyderco D’Allara Rescue

John D'Allara, a long-time Spyderco collector who used and owned nearly every model Spyderco made, was one of the many fallen hero's who went into Trade Center Tower 1 on Sept. 11, and did not come out. When the release date for this new rescue knife came near, Spyderco thought it only fitting that it be named in his honor.

Spyderco Tool Harp

The Spyderco Tool Harp has eight functional tools which rotate out individually from an outer ring and snap open, ready for use. Includes a slotted-head and Phillips-head screwdriver, punch/awl, gimlet, saw, corkscrew, file and small/large-head hammer that doubles as a bottle opener.

Spyderco Sharpmaker Triangle Sharpener

I have always admired the triangular rods of Sal's Sharpmaker but did not like the wide angle he used. I see that he now incorporates the 30° angle that I like so well as his basic angle and still includes the 40° angle that used for the edge on thicker blades or to add a micro-bevel to a properly sharpened edge.
