In 2002, Spyderco® created an exciting little knife that blends the traditional Spyderco® with the traditional lockback folder. The bolsters and caps, the liners, and the mid-lock are traditional folder. The blade shape, the handle shape and the hole in the blade are traditional Spyderco®.
Since then, they have produced this great little knife in several handle materials. The introduction was with a brown jigged bone inlay. This was followed by an all stainless model (pure Spyderco), and last year a smooth red bone inlay. In the year following the introduction, they produced exclusives for us with Black Lip Pearl and Mother-of-Pearl inlays. For 2007, they introduced a handle variation with Mother-of-Pearl and Abalone. Absolutely beautiful!
A great knife for casual or dress wear. Other than the Ladybug, this is probably the slimmest profile Spyderco® has produced. Measures 3-1/8" closed with a 2-3/8" Wharncliffe style blade of VG-10 at 60-62 Rc. with the trademark thumb hole for opening the knife with one hand. The brushed stainless handles and natural handle scale materials bring this high tech knife back toward the 19th Century. You get the best of both worlds. Weighs 1.9 oz.
