The Deer Hunter and the Bird & Trout were an entirely new concept including blade, handle and sheath. The blades are just thick enough to be stiff rather than flexible and are ground very thin all the way to the edge, creating a marvelous cutting tool. This is the way the world's finest kitchen knives are made, and is the wave of the future for top of the line hunting knives.
For about a year and a half in '96-'97, we sold our original "Goose Wing" ax. Sadly, we lost the U.S. maker and have been without until now. Our principal Italian maker is now making it for us.

I designed this little knife in the late 70's. It was intended to be a light weight knife for the casual hunter, out for a morning walk in the woods.
If you are looking for a really great little Axe at an even greater price, here is the one. Buck has given us a camp/hunter's axe with a 3" cutting edge, 13-1/4" length and a weight of 1 lb. 2.6 oz.
These rugged game shears are actually a very versatile piece of gear that can come in handy in many ways. They are simple to take apart for easy and thorough cleaning, no matter how they're used in the field.
The Böker® Scout (or Camp) knife is unusual in that, instead of 4 blades with several functions, there are six blades including a reamer-leather punch, corkscrew, screwdriver-cap lifter (bottle opener), can opener, 2-1/2" Traditional Spear Point blade, and a 1- 3/4" Clip Point blade.
The Hobo is a really old design. It actually began as an eating knife and a spike for lifting morsels, sheathed with a larger knife. The next step was to put a fork and a knife in a folder. Then they worked out methods of separating them. No one knows how long ago that was, only that it followed the invention of forks. I have seen really old ones with two tines. I have also seen them with spoons almost as big as ladles.
Cowboy Action Shooting is about romance, not reality. When I was a boy many of the real people these enactors are portraying were still alive and my father introduced me to some of them. A Texas Ranger with two big Bisley Colts kept my eyes bugged and my mouth shut while he and my father talked. It is easy to forget that 100 years ago men dressed in the shield front shirt and stripped pants would go for months between baths while working in heat and dust moving cattle from home range to market.
In the late 1950s, D. H. Russell, owner of a cutlery store in Toronto, designed the Original Canadian Belt Knife. Demand for this design was so great that he brought an experienced cutler from Czechoslovakia to make the knives.
This is a small personal knife, or neck knife, with the same super edge holding D2 steel Bob puts into his much larger hunters and combat knives. This handy little knife with the canoe shaped handle is ideal for the kayaker or canoeist. Its 2-7/8" straight blade can be used as a small game knife or as a personal all purpose utility knife, suitable for anyone who has a need for a top quality knife of this size.
If you like large knives, this 12-1/2" bowie is one that you will really enjoy. Rogers' Rangers would have called it a "scalp knife", Houston's men at San Jacinto would have called it "a knife like Bowie's", today's troops call it a "Camp Knife".
The Gerber Back Paxe is a small kindling splitter or game axe made in Finland by the parent company, Fiskars and has to be handled to be appreciated.
Gerber's push-button lock Sport Saw is a winner. The Big Game Hunter, the Camper, and the Gardner will all find this a really useful tool. This saw leaves a cut surface like a fine cabinet maker's handsaw. It can handle the bones in a moose or a deer, cut firewood as fast as a good axe, and for trimming 3-4 inch limbs around the house you cannot find a better hand powered saw. The secret is in the teeth.
These Italian made picnic tools are based on a design that in Depression Era America became called a Hobo Knife. The name stuck because some version of this knife was carried by men who wandered from place to place looking for work, many using freight trains as a method of transportation. The word Hobo became a name used to describe these travelers.

Who better than Leatherman® could engineer a knife that does everything the hunter needs, in camp and at the downed game. The differences between the two models are a little more involved than that, but both are made of top quality materials with Leatherman quality workmanship.
