Fourth Release in the Living History Series

Limited to 1975 knives

In 2005, Browning® introduced a series of six knives honoring American people, events or locations of historical significance. These six knives were designed to honor the Liberty Tree, Jim Bowie and the Alamo, Robert E. Lee, Dwight Eisenhower, the Vietnam War and Crazy Horse. Each knife is being produced by Browning in collaboration with American Forests when wood becomes available from a tree that witnessed the event. To date, they have released three knives, the Liberty Tree, the Alamo and Crazy Horse. The Vietnam knife is the fourth.

The inspiration for the Vietnam knife was the availability of Khan Hin wood from the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The design is reminiscent of a knife favored by members of the MACV-SOG. No group of men from the Vietnam war, have been more recognized for their heroism than members from all four branches of our military who participated in this Studies and Observation Group. They operated in secrecy and far away from the support of the vast military machine. MACV-SOG was the joint service high command unconventional-warfare task force engaged in highly classified clandestine operations throughout Southeast Asia. It was given the title "Studies & Observation Group" as a cover.

Browning has created a 1,975 piece limited edition of individually number knives commemorating the year the war ended. (Sorry, no choice of serial number.) The 6-3/4" blade is 420HC and is etched with "Lest We Forget". Ships with a display case of American Walnut with a beveled glass top and a Certificate of Authenticity. Made in the U. S. A. Suggested retail is $895.00.
