from W. R. Case® - Limited to 250 Serial Numbered Sets

The February 15, 1905 minutes of the newly formed W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery company of Bradford, PA include the purchase of C. Platt's Sons Cutlery of Eldred, PA from Harvey N. Platts. Officers included William R. Case, president, J. Russell Case, Vice President and Sales Manager and Harvey N. Platts, Secretary and Superintendent of the factory. John Russell Case and Harvey N. Platts were brothers-in-law and worked together for years, producing some of the finest pocket knives in America. J. R. Case was one of the leading cutlery salesmen of his era and Harvey Platts knew how to manage the production.

The C. Platt's Sons Cutlery Acquisition Set includes a handsome English Rope Knife made very like it might have been in 1905. (This model may also be called an Elephant's Toe Nail or a Sun Fish.) The handle measures 1-1/16" wide with very flat dark antique jigged bone and flat bolsters. A split spring is used to accommodate both the thin pen blade and the large spearpoint main blade. The swedging is remar-kable in today's knife world. The two color etch on both blades celebrates the beginning of the Case company and the end of Platt's Sons Cutlery with the logos of both companies and the date of the acquisition. Each knife is serial numbered on the bolster just above the Case Long Tail "C". This hand filling knife has a 3-1/2" main blade, 2" pen blade, both of 420HC stainless. Measures 4-1/2" closed and weighs 4.9 oz. The set includes the knife, which is wired into a glass front wood wall display, a Case Medallion and Certificate of Authenticity. Limited to 250 sets.
