The Inspiration is one of two models being produced by Canadian knifemaker Laurent Doussot under the Skalja™ trademark. Laurent was born in France and now lives in Québec. In 1990, while studying Fine Arts, he discovered handmade knives which became a vehicle for his passion for sculpture and mold making. His knives are inspired by forms found in nature and all have a three-dimensional, carved shape. Since 1992, Laurent's focus has been his knifemaking. The Skalja™ brand was introduced in early 2007.
This version of the Skalja™ Inspiration is a liner-style locking knife with cast 416 stainless bolsters, a 3-1/4" hand ground modified drop point blade of ATS-34 at 58-60 Rc., stainless spring and liners and Bloodwood handle scales. Bloodwood is a South American hardwood with a rich strawberry red color that darkens with exposure to air and light. It is hard and dense, and takes a high lustrous finish, perfect for knife handles. Measures 4-3/8" closed and weighs 4.3 oz. Each knife is numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity. Made in Canada. Includes a black nylon pocket pouch.
