Randall Model 1

In September of 1939, W.D. Randall began stamping his knives with the same mark you see on them today. Being a fine knifemaker, a great business man, and a master in the art of self-promotion helped W. D. Randall to become the best known maker of handmade knives in the world. "Bo", as the world knew him, continued to lead his handmade knife firm until he turned the business over to his son Gary in 1970. Gary had been very active in the firm for years and has been in charge for nearly 30 years. Continuing in the family tradition, Gary's son Jason is now a part of the business.

I bought my first Randall in 1953. If I still had that $35 knife today, it would be worth about $700 - $800. Many older Randall knives are worth 5 to 15 times the value of the ones made today.

We have been selling Randall knives for many years, but cannot purchase enough to offer them in every catalog, therefore we offer them only a few times each year. We always have a good quantity of the featured knives on hand when we mail the catalog, but often orders run us out of stock very quickly. At times it can take up to two, or even three, months for us to deliver your order. If you order directly from Randall, the price will be lower but the wait will be extremely long.

Randall Model 1 with Black Micarta Handle

The Model 1 has a 7" blade of 1/4" 440A stainless, with black linen Micarta® handle, double nickel silver hilt, a red, white, and blue fibre spacer arrangement and duralumin butt cap.

Randall Model 1 with Maple Burl Handle

The Randall Model 1 is a long time favorite of Randall owners. Randall has taken that model and added A. G. Russell's own special Golden Maple Burl handle with brass butt and double guard. This model has been used as a hunting knife in camps all over the world, as a camp knife in every circumstance that could be imagined, and as a combat or fighting knife in every war from WWII to the latest adventure of our armed forces.

7" Clip blade of O-1 tool steel, overall length of knife is 11-3/4". Includes a leather sheath with an India Stone in the pocket on the front of sheath. Weighs 10.3 oz.
