The Surge® is 1/2" longer than the original Wave® and while the overall size is not as large as the Supertool, all of the individual tools are larger and more efficient. The knife blades are the largest Leatherman has ever put into one of their tools. The file is cut all the way to the end and there are new tools as well. Measures 4-1/2" closed with extra large pliers. Weighs 12.5 oz. While Leatherman cannot claim that their products are made 100% in the U. S.A., their production facilities are located in Portland, OR and they have made a committment to American production. A few components are produced outside this country, specifically the file.
