A.G. Russell Knives

The Catskill Mountains, an area in New York State, were once the Indian’s summer hunting grounds because there was so much wildlife. They called the mountains "Onteora", which means land in the sky. Today, wildlife is still in abundance and many sportsmen return to the mountains year after year to shoot their favorite game.

For this third knife, Canal Street has chosen an easily recognized classic stockman pattern.

This is the fourth in Canal Street Cutlery's 2011 North American Trophy Series representing North American Trophy animals. The series consists of five knives, four folders and one fixed blade.

The Trailing Drop Point Hunter is the last in Canal Street Cutlery's series of five knives - four folders and one fixed blade - representing North American Trophy animals. These include the white tail and the elk released in the October 4th KCC brochure, the ram's horn in the October 26th brochure and the mule deer in the first November brochure. All five models are a classic pattern and feature handle scales of the trophy animal for which the knife is named.

The Pinch Lockback is so named, according to Wally Gardiner of Canal Street Cutlery, because it's a good knife to have in a pinch.

The 3-1/4" clip and 3-1/4" spey blades are satin finished 440C stainless steel at 56-58 Rc.

Canal Street® Cutlery took their Moon Pie Trapper, removed the long spey blade and made it a Half Moon Pie Trapper.

In March, we introduced Canal Street Cutlery's new Pinch lockback folder as an exclusive, using our own India Stag for handle scales. The first 100 pieces have sold and we have asked Canal Street to ship the second 100.

For several years now, Canal Street Cutlery has taken the nearly 300 years of combined knife making experience of the Master Cutlers employed there to produce some of the finest traditional style folders on the market today. Since the beginning, we have offered several exclusive designs with handle materials of Pearl, Mica Pearl and our own stock of India stag.

The final four are the Folding Hunter, Moon Pie Trapper, Serpentine Stockman, and D’Holder Hunter Bowie. The American Chestnut used for the handle scales was reclaimed from the Hoover barn located just outside of Hopkinsville, KY.

These knives are the final group to be offered in Canal Street Cutlery’s® American Chestnut Collection.

The cast integral hilt/bolster and 3-1/2" mirror polished drop point blade are 19C27 Swedish stainless at 60-62 Rc. For this 2010 A. G. Russell™ Exclusive, we have chosen carefully selected Exterior Ram's Horn for handle scales with a coined nickel silver Canal Street shield.

This is the sixth in a series of folders made for A. G. Russell™ Knives by Canal Street Cutlery® using White Buffalo Mica Pearl for the handle scales. The previous five knives include a Muskrat, Doctor’s Knife, Half Moon Pie Trapper, Stockman and Cannitler. Mica Pearl is a resin-based material that was developed to be an alternative to Celluloid.

Over the past several years we have offered a pretty wide range of folders from Canal Street® Cutlery. Most have been small to mid-size traditional folders. This latest offer is a large Folding Hunter.

Over the last few years, we have offered several exclusive models from Canal Street Cutlery® with different handle materials, both natural and manmade. This is the first time we have offered a Canal Street knife with Mother-of-Pearl handle scales. It is gorgeous, premium pearl. We have chosen Canal Street's Cannitler, a medium sized Canoe, configured as a Whittler.

Mica Pearl, a unique resin based handle material, was developed to be an alternative to Celluloid. It is 100% stable, it will not burn or change color with age. Each color is developed in an atmospherically controlled environment, poured and controlled so each handle scale pattern is unique with a blend of black, gold and white.

The 3" Razor style blade makes this a "One Arm Knife", designed to be opened by hooking the front of the blade on a boot, shoe or pocket and snapping it open.

This one, the Ring Opener, was revived in 2006. It was originally designed for those who did not have strong fingernails. Just twist the ring and the blade opens or closes, no need to break your nails.

This Canal Street Cutlery® Premium Stockman is made exclusively for A.G. Russell™ Knives with a special long bolster and White Buffalo Mica Pearl. Mica Pearl, a unique resin based handle material, was developed to be an alternative to Celluloid.

We have provided Canal Street Cutlery™ with our own highly figured Cocobolo wood and Burgundy Micarta® for handle scales on this realistically sized Bowie knife. This is a perfect size for the Cowboy Action Shooter, the hunter of large game who needs a multi-purpose camp knife and the man who just likes a full sized knife.
