G. Sakai started in 1958 as a very small knifemaker. It was their involvement with Gerber Legendary Blades that brought them recognition as a top producer of high quality knives. Beginning in 1977, they produced Gerber's Silver Knight series. The company is currently one of the best know makers of high quality knives in Seki City, the knife center of Japan. They produce knives under their own brand, and also produce knives for a lot of brands around the world.
