The name for the original SOG® Vulcan, released in 2007, was inspired by the General Electric M61A1 Vulcan, a six-barrel 20mm Gatling-type cannon which is an integral part of the armament of such modern-day fighters as the F-15, F-16, and the F-18. For 2008, they updated the original with a Tanto style blade for a more tactical look. With its heavy-duty glass reinforced Zytel® handles over full steel liners, the ARC-Lock, and blade kick deployment system, these are just as tough as the original. The blade is San Mai, a laminated steel from Japan with a VG-10 core and outer layers of 420J2 for great edge holding, strength and toughness. The function is fully ambidextrous with dual thumbstuds and a reversible pocket clip. Made in Japan.
