A.G. Russell Knives

The Alaskan Skinner was my favorite Randall pattern for many years. It is the first Randall I bought when I had $35 to spare. After more than 60 years it is still one of their most usable knives.

This knife is functionally similar to the traditional slip-joint penknives, it is held open by a notch-joint at the knife's pivot.

Pink handle and blade. The 6-5/8" blade is has a slightly curved tip designed to make it easy to cube, dice, cut or slice. Measures 11-1/8" and weighs 2.8 oz.

Blueberry color handle, blue blade. The 4-5/8" blade is ideal for Sushi preparation. Measures 9-1/8" and weighs 2.8 oz.

Blue handle and blade. The 5-7/8" partially serrated blade is curved and is designed to handle just about any cutting task in the kitchen. Measures 10-1/2" and weighs 2.2 oz.

Light purple handle and blade. The 5-3/4" blade has wide, scalloped serrations designed to cut sandwiches without ripping and tearing the bread to handle just about any cutting task in the kitchen.

Pomegranate pink handle and blade. The 6-1/2" blade is has granton grooves (indentations in the blade) designed to keep food from sticking to the blade when slicing.

Reproductions of Ukiyo-e prints fill the handle scales of this folder. The images were originally created as woodblock prints in Edo (now Tokyo) during the second half of the 17th century.

The basic premise is a really lightweight pocket tool with the most needed features and one hand opening and closing.

Grizzly Adams probably carried a knife similar to this. It is a handful, but not too large for easy carry. Features a 6-3/8" California clip blade, with a swedge on both sides, of Sandvik stainless steel at 55-57 Rc. Constructed with a slightly tapered full tang allowing the use of European Stag for handle scales.
