Spyderco® calls their new line of very small folders Slipits. These are non-locking slip-joint knives from a company that has built a reputation on lockbacks, but also and more importantly, on quality. The HoneyBee is part of that line.

This knife is functionally similar to the traditional slip-joint penknives, it is held open by a notch-joint at the knife's pivot.

We are often told that big things come in small packages. Spyderco's® Poliwog seems to prove that rule. At first this knife seems small, but when in your hand it feels and cuts like a large blade. Spyderco tells us that the Poliwog CLIPIT's open-end Ball Bearing Lock is one of the strongest of all of their locking mechanisms. This is from a company who is known for their attention to the strength and functionality of their knives. Pulling back on the ball unlocks the blade from either side.

I have always admired the triangular rods of Sal's Sharpmaker but did not like the wide angle he used. I see that he now incorporates the 30° angle that I like so well as his basic angle and still includes the 40° angle that used for the edge on thicker blades or to add a micro-bevel to a properly sharpened edge.

In 2005, Spyderco® launched their Kopa series which has been made up of approximately three knives per year with exceptionally unique handle variations. This version has a multi piece inlay of white Mother-of-Pearl with contrasting and colorful abalone stripes. Very striking.

In 2002, Spyderco® created an exciting little knife that blends the traditional Spyderco® with the traditional lockback folder. The bolsters and caps, the liners and the mid-lock are traditional folder. The blade shape, the handle shape and the hole in the blade are traditional Spyderco®.
