The prime mission objective stated simply: "Perform a manned lunar landing and return". With only 164 days left in the decade, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin achieved the goal set in motion by President Kennedy in 1961, by landing on the moon on July 20, 1969, a day many of us thought would never happen and now can't believe happened almost 40 years ago.

Since the men on the Apollo 11 mission carried a Case Astronauts knife, it seems only fitting that W. R. Case® & Sons Cutlery Co. would celebrate one of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind by producing a 40th anniversary commemorative. With a smooth natural bone handle embellished with the famous quote "That's one small step for man…one giant leap for mankind", this model is built on the standard Case® 4" trapper with a 3-1/4" clip blade and a 3-1/4" spey blade of Tru-Sharp® Surgical Stainless steel at 55-57 Rc. The main blade is etched with the 40th anniversary logo. Each is serial numbered on the obverse side bolster with the serial number set in the Case "Long Tail C" mark. Nickel silver bolsters with brass liners and pins. Measures 4-1/8" closed and weighs 3.8 oz. Made in the U.S.A.
