In 1991, three men with years of experience with Gerber and W. R. Case started a new knife manufacturing company in Jacksonville, Alabama. Beginning in 2007, we began to see knives with materials and craftsmanship that is a step above what we had been seeing from Bear and Sons Cutlery. We are talking about what Bear calls their Custom Heritage Series. The first release in 2007 featured genuine India Stag handle scales. The second release in the series, in 2008, had mother-of-pearl handle scales. Both series had nickel silver bolsters and caps, brass liners and carbon Ladder Pattern Damascus blades.

At the 2009 S.H.O.T. Show, Bear showed us their newest offers in this Series with Abalone handle scales. They have chosen mostly different models of traditional folders, plus a Baby Bowie pattern and added genuine Abalone scales to the carbon Damascus blades. The Damascus is made from a medium carbon steel, a high carbon steel and nickel to create a strong Damascus pattern. The Rockwell is about 58-60 Rc. Each blade will be different. All the folders have brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, butt caps and inlays. Each knife is serial numbered. We have reserved the first twenty-five of each model. Sorry, no choice of serial numbers, they will be shipped lowest serial number first. Each knife ships in a gift tin. Made in the U.S.A.
