The Para 3 can trace its history all the way back to the first-generation Para Military model introduced in 2004. After customers started asking for a more compact version Spyderco® went back to the drawing board, and the Para 3 was born.
Spyderco has long been an industry leader in the use of exotic, high-performance blade steels. After years of using the best materials the world's leading steel manufacturers could provide, they decided it was time to create their own. In close cooperation with Crucible® Industries, Spyderco has developed CPM SPY27—a particle metallurgy stainless steel containing a proprietary mix of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt. This remarkable composition, enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt and the state-of-the-art Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, is produced exclusively for Spyderco and will be featured in select USA-made models. Every knife made with this steel will also have a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.
This Para3 showcases the exclusive CPM SPY27 blade steel in the signature cobalt-blue fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The blade features a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ for quick, one-handed opening with either hand. A generously sized lanyard hole and a reversible pocket clip round out its impressive features, providing discreet left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry and allowing the easy attachment of fobs or lanyards. The clip point blade has a hardness of 60-62 Rc. The blade measures 3" and the closed length is 4-1/4". Weighs 3.4 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested Retail $285.00.
