The CRKT Convergence was designed by award winning custom knifemaker Aaron Frederick and introduced in 2004. The locking mechanism is unusual enough that CRKT finally gave up on producing it. After removing the knife from their line, CRKT offered the remaining stock to A. G. Russell Knives. A wonderful opportunity for our customers.
The simple profile is not marred by thumb studs or nail nicks. To open, just press and pull the blade end with the thumb or index finger, and the blade instantly pivots out and locks open.
CRKT incorporated the RealEase lock release system invented by custom knifemakers Charles Kain and Steve McCowen. When pressed down and back with the thumb, the button wedges the locking liner open. The result is a truly ambidextrous locking liner folder. Finally, they added the patented Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®), which converts folders to virtual fixed blades when actuated with a flick of the thumb.
The AUS-4 stainless steel blade is a modified drop point with a swedge at the top edge. Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot assure smooth action. Assembled with stainless steel spacers, Torx® fasteners, and 420J2 stainless steel liners. The injection molded black Zytel® scales have a hex pattern Operator's Grip. Removable black Teflon® plated clothing/gear clip. Measures 4-1/4" closed and weighs 4.3 oz. The original retail price was $69.99. Made in Taiwan.
